Our Story

A calling

Den and Becky Martin have lived in the area for over 20 years. They have had a heart for the town of Towcester and its surrounding villages. God has been speaking through pictures and words about the gospel speading in power through the area.

Getting started

At the beginning of 2016 Den and Becky felt a number of clear promptings from the Holy Spirit to get started and begin a group to get together to pray for the town and to seek God over what he wants to do.

Prayer

Since Feb 2016 we ran a fortnightly prayer meeting called ‘Prayer for Towcester’ to pray for the town and surrounding villages. We have been praying to see God move across the town and across the villages in a more powerful way than we’ve currently experienced. You can read more about that here.

In September 2017 we ran our first Alpa course at the newly refurbished Sawpits Centre (which used to be the old library) in Richmond Road, Towcester. By January 2018 we were ready to start once-a-month gathering meetings on Sunday mornings at the Sawpits Centre. September 2018 saw us run our second Alpha course in the town, which was well attended. We combined worship, shared lunches and a focus on prayer for what God was doing.

Since then we have been gradually growing in number and by 2019 had 3 home groups meeting in Towcester and the villages. Our Sunday meetings have allowed us to develop teams who run worship, setup, catering etc.

From September 2019 we begun to roll out weekly Sunday meetings and we were formally commissioned and launched by our parent church on October 6th 2019.

The lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 have been a challenge, but we’ve used Zoom weekly to support our friendly and interactive Sunday and mid-week meetings. We are now fully back meeting live in the Sawpits Centre and continue to offer a Zoom link for those who still wish to connect to our meetings remotely. Heritage

Our parent church was New Life Church Milton Keynes and we relate to and have good relationship with the Catalyst / New Frontiers church networks. We enjoy worshipping God and promote the freedom and fulness of Christ and the expression of the work of the Holy Spirit amongst us. It is early days so far but we have been growing steadily as people get to hear about our vision. We are looking to support and encourage churches in the area and to work with them wherever possible. We are putting on outreach events to reach out to and engage with people not in a church. We would also love Christians who go to church outside the area but live in or around Towcester to join with us and partner in this vision. If you would like to know more please get in touch.
